National Young Leaders ConferenceWashington D.C.
NYLC was an amazing achievement for me. I was able to go to a national conference and meet kids from around the country that are all around my age. Try and tell me that's not cool! I learned a lot from NYLC, and I'll never forget the people I met there. There were plenty of simulations that we got to participate in. We had an executive simulation to show us what it was like to make debate and come to a decision in the White House. We had a Model Congress to show us what it was like to be part of the House of Representatives. In fact, we got to go to the House of Representatives, and go on the floor. How many people get to do that? Anyhow, we had a simulation about the Supreme Court in which we were either Justices or Attorneys in a case that has already happened in the real world. Our group came to the same decision as the real Supreme Court with nearly the same amounts of people on either side. We got to tour Washington D.C. while we were there as well. There's plenty to see, and even though we were there for ten days, I know I haven't seen half of what I wanted to see. I wish I could have stayed longer, but not just to see the rest of Washington D.C. I wish I could have stayed longer because saying good bye to all my new friends was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I hate to think of what graduation will be like, because I only spent ten days with these people, and I've spent years with most of the people that I'll be leaving when I leave school. Anyhow, I would like to say thank you to everyone I met. If you're reading this and you met me at NYLC and you don't have my email address, just Email Me and we can talk. I had a lot to say the last day, and though I have plenty more to say, I think I'll leave you with a link to the post I made on the last day. Thanks again everyone, I had tons of fun, and I hope you did too. I almost forgot, I'm making a photo album from NYLC. I redid my Cool Pics Page and made it into smaller albums, but it was worth it. Check It Out, or just check out the NYLC Photo Album. |
