The Music
Music is more than definitely the most well known way that people express themselves. Every school has a band that plays for the team, and there are "garage bands" all over the country. Why is it that music is so important in our lives? I'll tell you this much, music is the only way I can think of that can portray your inner feelings by using almost all of the body's senses. I know that when I'm in a particularly bad mood, I like to lay down and turn up my cd player, just to listen to the music pouring out of the speakers. I can't think of a better way to calm the senses and just relax. You should try it sometime, it's very therapuetic. I also like to write lyrics some times. I'm not going to say I'm very good at it, but I do like to do it. I find writing to be therapuetic as well, and try to whenever I can. I'll admit, I'm not that great of a writer most of the time, and some of my writings are so bad that I refuse to share them with anyone, but it makes me feel better, and that's the point, isn't it? When I listen to music, I have a certain taste that I really like. Some people don't like my kind of music, but then again, there is no type of music that everyone likes. When I'm stressed out, I turn up some Rock and Roll, possibly some slightly "emo" stuff, and just sit back and listen. I know what you're thinking, but no, I really don't like heavy metal. I like stuff that has meaning, not just whinning or depthless screaming. I understand that sometimes an artist has to scream to get his/her point across, but if a song is nothing but screaming and I cannot understand a word of it, what is the point of the song. Also, I do not like songs that are overly obscene, or songs that talk about things that should not be discussed even in private. Music is not supposed to be degrading to other people, it is supposed to be an expression of feeling. Nothing can compare with the power music has over people. Music can change our mood, make us full of energy, or bring us down to tears. Music can calm our nerves, or set us on the edge. Every person has a different taste in music, but my advice would be to try out all the different types. Sure, you're not going to like everything, but there's a chance that you'll like some part of every different type of music, or that you'll find some amazing hybrid band that combines two or three genres to make a spectacular performance. Well, one of my friends found this on the internet, and I thought it would be highly appropriate here. Enjoy.
