The Cloudmage Series
Earlier this year, Megan asked me to read one of her books. She told me that it was a really good book and that I would really enjoy it. Unfortunately, I was unable to read it during the school year and had to put it off until I was at summer camp. The book, called Holder of Lightning, was about a girl named Jenna Aiore who found a stone called Lámh Shábhála that could harness the power of the sky magic. This stone is the first stone, and it paves the way for all of the other stones that can harness that power to come back from their slumber. It had been centuries since the Mage Lights, the lights in the sky that hold the power of the sky, had been seen, and all of the sky stones, the Clóchs na Thrínti, slumbered while waiting for the Mage Lights to return to the sky. Jenna used her stone to allow the other stones to tap into the Mage Lights and reawaken the world, but in doing so, Jenna put very powerful weapons into the hands of those who wanted only one thing: more power. Throughout the three books, the characters are always vying for the power of Lámh Shábhála and the stories revolve around Jenna and her family. The second book, Mage of Clouds, is about Jenna's daughter, Meriel, and her adventures that lead her to become Banrion Ard, or High Queen, of all the kindoms of Talamh an Ghlas. Book three, Heir of Stone, is about Meriels children, Kayne, Sevei, and Ennis and their adventures as cloudmages. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the books, and I highly recommend them to anyone interested in fantasy novels. They are all slightly long, each totaling around six hundred pages, but the story line is fantastic and the characters are portrayed very well. With the exception of the typos that I found in the third book, I didn't see any major problems with any of the books. They were all great, and I read them with a zest that I don't often get when reading a book. I finished the last one in four days! Seriously, everyone should check these books out, they're great! |
