Tool

So, Tool is a band that I heard on the radio a few months ago. After hearing "Schism," I knew I needed to look into this band. Their music is difficult to describe. Tool is a progressive rock band with a wonderful sound and even better lyrics. I suppose you might say they sound dark or sinsister, but every song I've heard has sent chills straight down my spine.

I've decided that I would really love a few Tool CD's for Christmas, so if you're looking for a gift, look no further. For some reason progressive rock bands have been catching my fancy a lot lately. Tool, unlike Dream Theater, though, is a bit darker, and the lyrics reach me on a different level. Recently I fell in love with "Aenima," which honestly begins with, "Some say the end is near...certainly hope we will...." I guess the reason I like the song is because its all about destroying the world in order to "fix" it, which is mentioned in the chorus, "the only way to fix it is to flush it all away...." This reminds me a lot of Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, in which the world slowly falls apart because of the horrible decisions people have been making. I don't know how else to describe it.

Serioulsy, though, listen to "Schism" and you'll see what I like about Tool. The song is just, amazing. Creepy, deep, dark. I love it. I've had to rethink my outlook on music because of Tool, and they may very well become my favorite band soon if I can get a hold of more of their music and I like it as much as what I already have.
