Go the Distance (But DoN’t Say Good Bye)
Those two words are like a knife;
hearing them might take my life.
Please doN’t say those words again.
Just pray for my return, amen.

Your blue eyes can crush my spirit.
The ride is safe; No need to fear it.
Please doN’t cry when I depart;
the tears ‘re enough to break my heart.

Then You kiss my lips good bye
and we both begin to cry.
I tell You I’ll be safe and sound.
Instead of good bye, “I’ll see ya around.”

A hug, a tear, two steps You take,
then my body starts to shake.
I’m racked with grief, for I must leave;
we both have goals we must achieve.

Three weeks pass us by in pain,
then I drive on home again.
Three words escape at seeing You.
Four words return, “I love you, too.”
